OK...let's get started

body work

The very first thing I did when I got it home was deal with the body work. I removed 100% of the old paint and old body filler, and I did it the old fashioned way with paint remover and sandpaper. I was expecting to find rust but I didn’t find any, I did find some pretty bad body work and re-did as much as I could, again the old fashion way with a hammer and dolly.

I installed new sheet metal, using filler very sparingly. I chopped the windshield and added fender flares and finally the Fiberglass bonnet (front end) was finished and fitted. I pulled out the old Austin Healy Sprite rear end and replaced it with a Ford 8 inch unit fitted with a 355 posi gear set. I installed a completely new brake system from the ground up with MGB front disc and Ford rear drums. (Update....In January '06 I changed the front brake set to a new Wilwood set with 11" drilled and slotted rotors and 4 piston calipers).
