It's back

From the front in primer without a bonnet

With the new steel frame in place it was time to complete the chassis. Because of the extremely short wheelbase, I extended the frame 2 inches. While it would be impossible to pick this up with the naked eye, it does help the car hook up and go straight.

REAR - I replaced the inadequate rear leaf spring suspension, because the car is extremely low to the ground and has a very short wheel base, I couldn’t fit a four link or ladder bar and I didn’t want to change the cars stance. Jegs offers what they call Jegster bars. Jegster bar, kind of a cross between a four link and a ladder bar that fits perfectly and performs better than a ladder bar. This together with Koni coil over shocks completes the rear suspension and works real nice.

FRONT - I installed a completely new tubular stainless steel IFS (Independent Front Suspension). Wheel base was the single biggest issue, when fitting an IFS built by one of the hot rod suppliers. These companies build kits that simply will not work on a can this narrow. I was only able to find one supplier that was willing to modify their kit to fit my wheelbase. Fatman Fabrications was great to work with, they helped me redesign my frame and than they modified their kit to fit including building a custom cross member and narrowing the rack. This is custom IFS that is based on the popular Mustang II IFS. Not a single part is stock but it follows the Mustang II geometry so it is guaranteed to work right.
